The Diner - McMinnville: Reviews & Ratings
The dining area is small but it isn't bad the tables have plenty of space between them. If there is a wait they will take your name and put it on a digital wait list with a link you can see updates on. The hostess was very polite and got us drinks right away before our server checked in with us. The pricing was pretty standard in my opinion for a place that makes everything in house from scratch. There is a daily soup and seasonal menu. We ended up getting the lemon bread toast as a starter. The toast had a cornbread like texture but was very vibrant and fresh. It came with cold butter. We did add salt too it because it was on the sweeter side. After, a fried chicken club was ordered with a side of the soup of the day (braised pork chili verde) and the eggs Benedict classic style with a side of macaroni and cheese. The sandwich was amazing. The chicken crispy and the bacon crunchy. The soup was not my favorite. It didn't have the classic Verde taste to it and tasted more like green tomatoes then tomatillos. The eggs benny was actually pretty spot on. It's the first time in a long time that I've had perfectly poached eggs without them being over cooked. The sauce was delicious and the hashbrowns perfectly crisp. The hasbrowns were not salted which I really appreciated because that can go either way on too much. The mac n cheese was really good. The sauce was nice and creamy. I'd go back. And recommend.
I've rated this place more than once - 5 stars. EVERY. TIME. TJ - your creativity and artwork is exceptionally underrated. You achieve a balance in flavors and textures that are unmatched... anywhere. The regional influences fuse into this combination of buttery yet delicate combinations that exceed expectations every time. Exceptional farm-to-fork fare with friendly staff and daily specials that showcase the talent in the kitchen. Great location for casual dining. Their location in the center of the Willamette wine country and surrounding AVA's provide great wine options you can bring with for a reasonable corkage.
I love this place. I got the pastrami and corned beef hash. Great coffee, great specialties and baked goods.
I had a really good good experience, the service was excellent really kind and friendly we got really good breakfast. We'll be back.
Over here at the local cafe just a couple of blocks from my sisters place while visiting from Beulah, Colorado. It's the hot set up! On my plate - the ham is totally top of the line - you don't get this type of ham served in restaurants. Their homemade sourdough toast, crunchy - is so outrageously good, it melts in the mouth. The Home Fries Country Spuds are cooked and seasoned perfectly. I've owned and operated two restaurants "built" from the ground up by myself, and managed other food establishments including former food and beverage director of Kah-Nee-Tah Resort, and also former F & B guy for Bend Golf and Country Club. I know a little bit about food & service. My sister comes in here all the time - I don't really blame her. She can scoot out of her place on her electric scooter, tool down the block and shoot into the interior and be received like a queen in court. They love her here. I don't blame them.
I've been coming here for years, and it's always been worth the hour drive to get here. The service is outstanding, and the food is absolutely delicious. I've been here well over 20 times, and they are extremely consistent with the quality of their food. The menu is good and the food is reasonably priced. The fresh baked desserts are phenomenal as well. If you are in the area or even if you're nowhere near this place, definitely stop by for one of the best restaurants in Oregon, You won't regret it. I highly recommend this place.
Awesome little dinner. They used locally sourced products. My wife had the Mac and cheese, while I had quiche with fruit. Service was awesome along with the good food. We highly recommend stopping to check them out. I think we're almost regular customers and plan on stopping again at some point. Stopped again 09/28/2025. I had a waffle special and my wife had savory crepes. Awesome food & service. They detail the food on their face book page, see pictures below
Greetings fellow consumers, today I had the pleasure of having a little breakfast at The Dinner in McMinnville, Oregon. It's a small, welcoming café with homemade from scratch cooking to delight your senses. I had French Toast with fresh fruit, butter, and real maple syrup. My first bite to back-to-Sunday visits with my grandmother. It was light, fluffy, and so tasty! The apples were sliced paper-thin and the bananas were a perfect bite size. The toast was heaven; warm, thick, and moist. As I ate, I saw many breakfast plates pass my table, and they all looked delicious. The atmosphere was relaxing and inviting, I read my paper and enjoyed my time with no rush to leave. The ingredients, of course, were high quality and fresh. I loved it, come by for a tasty homemade meal where you can relax and enjoy the essence of home.
